Bill and Pat Burndrett have lived in their home at Somerset for less than a month, but already feel right at home in their new community. The Burndretts searched for the perfect home for about a year. Last summer they fell in love with Windsong’s Windsor floorplan at The Villas at Blackberry Run, but preferred a Cherokee County location. Fortunately, they found the Somerset community in Woodstock, which offered the even better Lexington floorplan and was in the right location.
“This was our first new home and we had heard that the stress of building a home can tear a couple apart, but we found it fun,” said Pat. “Everyone at Somerset has been wonderful from the staff to the fellow residents and we could not have asked for a better experience.”
Their Lexington floorplan features three bedrooms and three bathrooms. They have taken advantage of several upgrades: hardwood floors in the great room and foyer, GE Profile appliances in the kitchen, a stone fireplace and much more. The major selling point for the Burndretts was the casita featured in the Lexington floorplan. The casita, Spanish for “little house,” located across the breezeway from the main house boasts a large multi-function room, its own walk-in closet, bathroom and covered porch.
“We loved the idea of the casita because it gives us a great place for guests to stay,” said Pat. “When relatives come to visit us they get to stay in the casita which is like their own personal apartment.”
Additional perks for the Burndretts include the great location near shopping and recreation and the fact that the community is gated. The Burndretts also enjoy meeting their new neighbors and attending social events at Somerset’s private clubhouse.
Somerset features 59 detached ranch courtyard homes priced from the mid $300,000s. All of the homes at Somerset maximize the benefit of natural light in every corner. The homes offer three bedrooms and elegant details, such as private courtyards with garden retreats; rocking chair front porches; ten foot ceilings with crown molding; and large master suites with baths that have separate vanities, garden tubs, tile showers with seats and ceramic tile floors.
Every home that Windsong Properties builds meets EasyLiving Homes© standards – no-step access, wide doorways, lever handles, and other amenities that facilitate changing life situations. All of the homes at Somerset are qualified by Southface as EarthCraft Home© and Energy Star certified. This assures that the homes have a lower cost to operate, are healthier and more comfortable and reduce the impact on the environment.
